Dear friends,

As we continue our Lenten journey, I want to encourage all of us to be in a spirit of prayer that peace would come to the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, and other parts of the world that are in war-torn situations. Here in the United States, we have become hurt by the war of words on many matters. As followers of Jesus, we are called to deal with one another in loving and peaceful ways.

Jesus shared in his Sermon on the Mount:

God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9

Let us join in prayer for those in power to be moved to work for peace. Pray for innocent people who have lost loved ones, their homes, or their lives and have been displaced. Pray for our military and for those families who have lost their sons and daughters in this recent conflict. Pray for peace in our conversations, even when we do not agree. For we are all children of God standing in the need of prayer.

For me in recent days, the story of the woman at the well found in John’s Gospel, Chapter 4, and the Fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22–23 have been meaningful scriptures that shape me to have a heart of peace and not a heart of war.

I leave you with this. Jesus said in John 14:27:

I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace that I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid.

I am grateful to be your bishop and to be on this journey with you.

Blessings,

Building Bridges...Making Connections

At Brandenburg United Methodist Church we are all about helping people make connections and find community. We want to help you connect with Jesus, connect in authentic community, and connect to your passion, mission, and true purpose. For more information about our church, feel free to email us at info@bburgumc.org.

Building bridges

Today so many people seem to feel disconnected and far from God. At times the church may even be to blame for creating human made barriers, or perhaps a painful past has made it seem difficult to relate to God.  We want to help build a bridge and pave the way for a deep meaningful relationship with Jesus.

One powerful way for that connection to take place is though worship.  We offer two distinctly different worship opportunities.  We invite you to explore the worship services or listen to a recent sermon online.

WORSHIP

ONLINE MESSAGES

"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit."

Ephesians 2:19-22

"but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love."

Ephesians 4:15-16

Connecting in

Community

Knowing a lot of people and having a lot of “friends” on social media is not the same as having people really know you and want to grow in Christ with you.

We believe being involved in authentic community is the best way to grow in your faith and find the love and support we all need. Some of our community groups meet at the church, some in homes, and some in the community of Brandenburg.
